Treasure Island Demonstration Garden
An acre of public garden on the Poudre River Trail south of Eastman Park, half growing vegetables for the food pantry and half showing water-wise plants that do well in Windsor, with free events through the growing season.
A volunteer-and-Town garden started in 2007 on an acre beside Lake Laku along the Poudre River Trail, just south and east of Eastman Park and next to the Eastman wetlands. Half of it grows produce for the local food pantry; the other half is a demonstration of what thrives in Windsor’s climate with less water: vegetables and herbs, roses, dahlias, annuals and perennials, a crevice garden and Plant Select varieties, with companion planting and xeriscaping shown as they are done.
It is open to a quiet stroll off the trail, guided tours and classes, and free events through the growing season; volunteers are welcome for planting, weeding and harvesting. The Town’s administrative hours for the garden are Monday to Friday 7:30 to 4:30, but the garden itself is simply there along the trail.
